The trellis summed the estimated slice sizes into a separate host buffer for the CPU to step over the payload with, and wrote each slice's start offset, which nothing has read since slices went into fixed slots. The gather writes the packed size of the slices after their sizes; use that, and drop the buffer and the prefix sums. The barrier after the trellis now covers the quantisers the encoder reads, rather than the frame size buffer.
