Randy Stauner 4ac2a34ced [Bug #22383] Fix inverted STR_SHARED check in rb_str_tmp_frozen_release
45a2c95d0f mistakenly rewrote

    FL_TEST_RAW(orig, STR_SHARED) && !FL_TEST_RAW(orig, STR_TMPLOCK|RUBY_FL_FREEZE)

as

    FL_TEST_RAW(orig, STR_SHARED | STR_TMPLOCK) == STR_TMPLOCK

requiring orig to not be shared, the opposite of the original
condition. orig always shares the buffer with tmp here, so the buffer
was never given back and the string stayed shared until its next
modification copied it. The code then read aux.shared from strings
that are not shared, where the union holds aux.capa.

This should be backported to 4.0

Now that chilled strings no longer appear as frozen, there is no

We however need to change `rb_check_frozen_internal` to no
longer be a macro, as it needs to check for chilled strings.

The documentation for `rb_enc_interned_str_cstr` notes that `enc` can be
a null pointer, but this currently causes a segmentation fault when
trying to autoload the encoding. This commit fixes the issue by checking
for NULL before calling `rb_enc_autoload`.

using it. We also don't plan on maintaining the non-Variable Width
Allocation code, so we are going to remove it.

卜部昌平 5e22f873ed decouple internal.h headers
Saves comitters' daily life by avoid #include-ing everything from
internal.h to make each file do so instead. This would significantly
speed up incremental builds.

We take the following inclusion order in this changeset:

1. "ruby/config.h", where _GNU_SOURCE is defined (must be the very
    first thing among everything).
2.  RUBY_EXTCONF_H if any.
3. Standard C headers, sorted alphabetically.
4. Other system headers, maybe guarded by #ifdef
5.  Everything else, sorted alphabetically.

Exceptions are those win32-related headers, which tend not be self-
containing (headers have inclusion order dependencies).

Alan Wu c06ddfee87 str_duplicate: Don't share with a frozen shared string
This is a follow up for 3f9562015e.
Before this commit, it was possible to create a shared string which
shares with another shared string by passing a frozen shared string
to `str_duplicate`.

Such string looks like:

```
 --------                    -----------------
 | root | ------ owns -----> | root's buffer |
 --------                    -----------------
     ^                             ^   ^
 -----------                       |   |
 | shared1 | ------ references -----   |
 -----------                           |
     ^                                 |
 -----------                           |
 | shared2 | ------ references ---------
 -----------
```

This is bad news because `rb_fstring(shared2)` can make `shared1`
independent, which severs the reference from `shared1` to `root`:

```c
/* from fstr_update_callback() */
str = str_new_frozen(rb_cString, shared2);  /* can return shared1 */
if (STR_SHARED_P(str)) { /* shared1 is also a shared string */
    str_make_independent(str);  /* no frozen check */
}
```

If `shared1` was the only reference to `root`, then `root` can be
reclaimed by the GC, leaving `shared2` in a corrupted state:

```
 -----------                         --------------------
 | shared1 | -------- owns --------> | shared1's buffer |
 -----------                         --------------------
      ^
      |
 -----------                         -------------------------
 | shared2 | ------ references ----> | root's buffer (freed) |
 -----------                         -------------------------
```

Here is a reproduction script for the situation this commit fixes.

```ruby
a = ('a' * 24).strip.freeze.strip
-a
p a
4.times { GC.start }
p a
```

 - string.c (str_duplicate): always share with the root string when
   the original is a shared string.
 - test_rb_str_dup.rb: specifically test `rb_str_dup` to make
   sure it does not try to share with a shared string.
