Hiroshi SHIBATAandClaude Opus 5.5 09053cae8a Clamp the length given to Winsock send() to int
Winsock takes the length as int, so a String of 2GiB or more had its length truncated. The caller now sees a short write, as BasicSocket#send already reports one.

Misaki Shioi 54d3945ee5 Add host information to timeout error messages in TCPSocket.new and Socket.tcp (#15582)
This change adds host information to the error messages shown when a timeout occurs while passing timeout options to `TCPSocket.new` or `Socket.tcp`, for improved usability.
(When the `fast_fallback option` is enabled, there may be multiple possible destinations, so the host name is shown instead of an IP address.)

As part of this change, the error messages in `Addrinfo.getaddrinfo` and `Addrinfo#connect_internal`, both of which are used by `Socket.tcp`, have also been improved in the same way.

Samuel WilliamsandLars Kanis ea8a7287e2 Add support for sockaddr_un on Windows. (#6513)
* Windows: Fix warning about undefined if_indextoname()

* Windows: Fix UNIXSocket on MINGW and make .pair more reliable

* Windows: Use nonblock=true for read tests with scheduler

* Windows: Move socket detection from File.socket? to File.stat

Add S_IFSOCK to Windows and interpret reparse points accordingly.
Enable tests that work now.

* Windows: Use wide-char functions to UNIXSocket

This fixes behaviour with non-ASCII characters.
It also fixes deletion of temporary UNIXSocket.pair files.

* Windows: Add UNIXSocket tests for specifics of Windows impl.

* Windows: fix VC build due to missing _snwprintf

Avoid usage of _snwprintf, since it fails linking ruby.dll like so:

  linking shared-library x64-vcruntime140-ruby320.dll
  x64-vcruntime140-ruby320.def : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol snwprintf
  x64-vcruntime140-ruby320.def : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol vsnwprintf_l

whereas linking miniruby.exe succeeds.

This patch uses snprintf on the UTF-8 string instead.

Also remove branch GetWindowsDirectoryW, since it doesn't work.

* Windows: Fix dangling symlink test failures

normal 9d74d402e1 disable non-blocking pipes and sockets by default

This effectively reverts r65922; but keeps the bugfixes to
better support non-blocking sockets and pipes for future use.

normal 0698c4969c socket: disable nonblocking-by-default on win32
Perhaps this fixes test failures reported by Greg and k0kubun.

However, the failure of certain tests to handle non-blocking I/O

Somebody knowledgeable about win32 should be able to fix it.

normal 6a65f2b1e4 io + socket: make pipes and sockets nonblocking by default
All normal Ruby IO methods (IO#read, IO#gets, IO#write, ...) are
all capable of appearing to be "blocking" when presented with a
file description with the O_NONBLOCK flag set; so there is
little risk of incompatibility within Ruby-using programs.

The biggest compatibility risk is when spawning external
programs. As a result, stdin, stdout, and stderr are now always
made blocking before exec-family calls.

This change will make an event-oriented MJIT usable if it is
waiting on pipes on POSIX_like platforms.

It is ALSO necessary to take advantage of (proposed lightweight
concurrency (aka "auto-Fiber") or any similar proposal for
network concurrency: https://bugs.ruby-lang.org/issues/13618

Named-pipe (FIFO) are NOT yet non-blocking by default since
they are rarely-used and may introduce compatibility problems
and extra syscall overhead for a common path.

Please revert this commit if there are problems and if I am afk
since I am afk a lot, lately.

normal a02a3f4649 socket: allow explicit buffer for recv and recv_nonblock
This reduces GC overhead and makes the API more consistent
with IO#read and IO#read_nonblock.

* ext/socket/basicsocket.c (bsock_recv): document outbuf
* ext/socket/unixsocket.c (unix_recvfrom): ditto
* ext/socket/init.c (rsock_strbuf, recvfrom_locktmp): new functions
  (rsock_s_recvfrom): support destination buffer as 3rd arg
  (rsock_s_recvfrom_nonblock): ditto
* string.c (rb_str_locktmp_ensure): export for internal ext
* test/socket/test_nonblock.rb: test recv_nonblock
* test/socket/test_unix.rb: test recv
