On a cold launch the framework and its resources are paged in with thousands of small reads that stall the main thread and child processes. Read them sequentially on a background thread at the start of the browser process instead, so those faults hit the page cache. Skipped when the framework is already resident or memory is short, reads only the running architecture's slice of a universal binary, and runs at utility disk priority.
